Message from the Governors

Welcome to the Governing section of the Potley Hill Primary School website where we will inform you about our dedicated Governing Board and the work that we do.

Our Governing Board is a small team of Parent, Co-opted and Staff Governors who volunteer their time to support, challenge and guide the school. Together we uphold our school motto – “Dream Big, Aim High, Make a Difference” – by striving for continual improvement in all aspects of school life.

We operate under the Circle Model, meaning all decisions are made collectively at full board meetings rather than through committees. The Board meets nine times a year, with each meeting focusing on key priorities such as the budget, educational standards, policy reviews, safeguarding, and health and safety. Working parties may be formed for specific projects, and Governors regularly visit classrooms and attend school events to monitor progress.

Our three main responsibilities are:

1. Ensuring the strategic direction, vision and ethos of a school.

2. Holding executive leaders within a school to account on various issues.

3. Overseeing financial performance and ensuring money is well spent across a school.

The day-to-day running of the school rests with the Headteacher, who works closely with staff to provide a nurturing and inspiring learning environment.
