Uniform
All pupils attending Potley Hill Primary School are expected to wear the full school uniform detailed below. We have a reputation of having a very smart appearance and we take great pride in this. Pupils should be clean and smart at all times and we seek parental support in the maintenance of such an appearance.
We have reviewed this policy in line with DFE Costs of School Uniforms Statutory Guidance November 2021 together with the non-statutory School Uniforms Guidance November 2021.

The items above that are followed by 'Potley Hill motif optional' can be purchased from Brenda's Schoolwear, (see information at the bottom of the page). However, alternative options without the motif are available for purchase at a wide number of shops and supermarkets, and are likely to be cheaper in price. Alternatively, the Potley Hill PTA run a used uniform shop which can be found online by clicking here.
Coats
There are no designated types of coat that must be worn. However, fleeces and reversible coats with the Potley Hill motif are available from our stockists.
Jewellery
Jewellery may only be worn for medical/religious reasons.
We do allow one pair of small stud earrings to be worn in the ear lobe but these must be removed where possible for PE and games. The school will not accept responsibility for any accidents caused by wearing of earrings and other jewellery on the school premises.
Children are encouraged to wear analogue or digital watches in order to support their learning of telling the time. However, any type of smart watch is not permitted due to the ability to take photographs or be directly linked to mobile phones which poses a safeguarding risk.
No nail varnish or make-up may be worn to school.
Hairstyles
In addition to the correct uniform, we expect a smart appearance from all our pupils including hairstyles. The following are NOT acceptable: braided hair with beads, coloured decorations, extreme hairstyles, coloured hair or designs shaved into the hair (for example, at grade 0 or 1).
All children with shoulder length hair or longer must have it tied up.
Hair accessories (ties and clips) must be plain, and blue or white. Blue gingham (checked) scrunchies may be worn by the girls with the summer uniform.
Headwear
Any headwear that pupils are required to wear for religious purposes should be plain navy blue or plain white in colour without embellishments.
Fashion and availability of items from the high street change rapidly and therefore it is not possible to cater for every possibility within this policy. Therefore, the school reserve the right to decide what is or is not allowed, both in uniform and general appearance, in cases not catered for by specific rules.
It would be advisable, when in doubt, for parents to contact the school before spending money on items which may not comply with our uniform policy. In cases of financial difficulty, we would be pleased to help so please do not hesitate to contact the Headteacher.
